The Thatch is an eco-friendly material, equipped with natural beauty and maximum life span. It’s manufactured from thin cane straws, available in South Africa.
The thatch, much like all the other species of dry vegetation, constitutes the main material, used for an ancient construction method of sheds, canopies and even walls. This method has been used since the Middle Ages, in both tropical and temperate climates.
Although thatch is considered to be a flammable material, is in fact a slow combustion material and it can even be used as a fire-retardant.
In order to manufacture the thatch canopy, the thatch canes are welded on one side with some kind of a natural rubber, forming parallelogram tiles.
Those tiles are equipped with rubber clips, which allow their easy adjustment on umbrellas and all kinds of shading structures, creating a stairway effect.
